Ukrainian Carpathians
April 2024
Together with Tanja Mourachova, Eben Brinckman, Leon Weber, Viktoria Kosorukova, Bohdana Batsko and Jannek Brauer I traveled to Ukraine in April of 2024.
Organized by Leon, this trip went to Lviv and Zakarpatia Oblast to explore, map and experience the Ukrainian (traditional) way of living, to document and present to a western audience.
However, during this trip the thing that stuck with me most was the feeling of war. The tension in the air, the flags on the streets and the military checkpoints near the Romanian border.
And when I left Ukraine I immediately noticed this, I noticed what it feels like when freedom is taken away from a society.
This is where the urge for me to share this with my (Western European) audience comes from and that then became the core of my project. This is still in the works and will be released in the summer of 2024.
